If you’re a CLIMB-BIG-DATA user, you may have received an email from the management team notifying you of essential maintenance and updates happening at the Cardiff region. As part of this process, there may be a slight disruption to service, including access to your VMs.
But what exactly does this mean, and what can you expect?
Firstly, it’s important to understand that this maintenance is necessary for improving the performance and stability of the CLIMB-BIG-DATA system. During the maintenance process, you may notice two Cardiff regions on your Bryn dashboard as your VMs are being migrated to a new system. This is nothing to be alarmed about, and it’s simply a temporary measure to ensure that your VMs continue to function as normal after the maintenance process.
However, you may also see your VMs duplicated with different IP addresses. Again, this is just a temporary measure, and once the maintenance is finished in early-mid April, you will see your VM with the original IP and a single Cardiff region. This means that you can continue to use your VMs as normal, with minimal disruption to your workflow.
It’s worth noting that the CLIMB-BIG-DATA management team will provide updates on the maintenance process via the Bryn dashboard.
While this essential maintenance and update may cause a slight disruption to service, it’s ultimately for the benefit of CLIMB-BIG-DATA users. By the end of the process, you can expect improved performance and stability of the system, which will ultimately enhance your experience as a user.
